When I first discovered this, I didn't think it would turn out to be as big of deal as it is, but this bug has me ready to chuck Ubuntu, so I Sony Vaio VPCF121GX/B Alps Pointing that this needs to be fixed NOW. Yes the touchpad works, but because it's not properly recognized, you can't enable the touchpad specific options, like multi-touch and the all important 'disable touchpad while typing'.

I believe you can do that in Ubuntu with some effort. Unfortunately, I can't give you specific steps because I have not done it myself.
